What Does the Michael Phelps Training Represent

Michael Phelps is one of the greatest sportsmen ever. He won eight gold medals in the 2008 Olympiad and in this way turned into the most successful swimmers all over the world. And this is only the beginning of the list of his success. He has many World Championship medals and other medals from Olympiads. What’s more, he holds several world records. Michael Phelps’ success is not a result of pure luck. It is a result of the Michael Phelps training system which is one of the greatest training courses a swimmer can do in order to boost his performance.

Many people think that if you are a swimmer all you need to train is swimming. But this is not enough at all and if you only do this you would just end up with greater endurance but with not extra strength and speed. If you want to be among the best swimming is just the beginning. Every Michael Phelps training begins with at least an hour of swimming which is mostly for clearing the flaws in the techniques. Swimming is also involved in the end of every training course due to the fact that then you should try to get the best you can do and show the best results.

Michael Phelps Typical Day of Training

Between the two swimming sessions Michael Phelps spends a lot of time in the gym trying to increase his strength, endurance and speed. He does this by mostly emphasizing on the exercises that help you gain strength rather than on those that can help you with your endurance or speed. The most important exercises in the Michael Phelps training are the push ups, the bench and the shoulder presses and the squat. All of these exercises help you gain a lot of strength and just a little muscle mass. This is important because every single extra pound is an enemy for swimmers. Gaining weight, no matter whether it is fat or muscle may only result in slowing.

The final session in the Michael Phelps training is what actually turns this swimmer into a world record breaker. The final session mainly represents swimming with the highest possible speed. Then you need to maintain both perfect technique in swimming and perfect timing such as when to breathe and so on. The perfect technique is a vital part. It helps you swim much faster and it also helps you avoid all of the possible injuries as well.

The Michael Phelps training is quite tough and it definitely isn’t recommendable for anyone with less than a year of experience both in the swimming pool and in the gym. This type of training is very difficult and the most important thing about it in order to be successful is the perfect performance of all of the aforementioned exercises. However, everyone that dares to try this training course would most definitely only benefit from it and who knows, that guy can be the next Michael Phelps.
