Bob Bowman is Michael Phelps coach, whom he met when his training at the north Baltimore Aquatic Club was started at the Maedowbrook Aquatic and Fitness Center. Michael’s talent was immediately recognized by his coach ferocious sense of competition and began an intense training command together. Phelps had also made the U.S. National B Team by 1999.

Under Bowman’s training at the North Baltimore Aquatic club, Michael Phelps won 5 World Championship gold medals and was named the American Swimmer of the Year in 2001 and 2003.

Bob Bowman was named as an assistant coach on the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team, serving as the primary coach for Michael Phelps. At the 2004 Games, Bowman helped coach Phelps to 8 medals, including six gold medals and two bronze.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he coached Michael Phelps to achieve 8 Olympic Gold Medals, which has never been done before in a single Olympics.

Bowman was added to the coaching roster to the 2012 London Olympics serving as an assistant coach for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. According to the Associated Press

Bob Bowman is also an American swimming coach. From 2005-2008, he was the head coach for the University of Michigan men’s swimming & diving team, replacing Jon Urbanchek; as well as the head coach for the club team based at the school: Club Wolverine.

He was the eighth men’s head coach in the history of the University of Michigan Swimming program. As of September 2008, he is the CEO/Head Coach for North Baltimore Aquatic Club.

In April 2008, Bowman and the University announced that he would conclude his coaching tenure at Michigan at the end of the 2008 USA Olympic Swim Trials (July 2008) and return to the North Baltimore Aquatic Club after the Beijing Olympics.

He has two sisters, Whitney Phelps who was born in 1978 and Hilary Phelps, the other who was born in 1980, joined a local swim team.

Not amazingly, backstroke was the first stroke he mastered in.

The game starts with the tutorials by Michael Phelps himself, to teach and train the players the proper way to swim.

To quote one representative of 505 Games in the press release, he said “Michael Phelps- Push the Limit utilizes Kinect for Xbox 360s unique capabilities to let players go beyond the pool in one of the most realistic and intense sports simulations ever created.

The entirely new game mechanic lets players accurately master the action of gold medal swim strokes and learn techniques that help Michael Phelps dominate his sport”.

The players have to move their arms as fast as they can to win the race. The players will also use their legs but only during the start of the game when they bend and spring to dive into the pool.

Here how you play Michael Phelps – Push the Limit in Xbox 360

The first part of the game will be the low-level swim meets then followed by the advance then on to the championship level. The players will also have the chance to race with Phelps on the screen. There are different locations of the meets; it could be in the pools situated in the mountain range or in an 80,000 seats natatoriums.

As young as 23 years old he is already a millionaire and probably the richest athletic spokesman ever.

Before he even got the eight gold medals at Beijing Olympics, he already had 10 corporate sponsors. He was even called the “greatest Olympian ever” by many but it was opposed by some people who claimed that the title rightfully belongs to tracksters Carl Lewis, Paavo Nurmi or Jesse Owens.

There is actually no formal basis as to who should be called the “greatest Olympian ever” from all the generations of Olympians who made it big in the Olympics. If Nurmi, Lewis and Owens could only swapped the title for a portion of the money Phelps is going to make in the coming days, they would do so in exchange of the title.

According to Wall Street Journal, Michael Phelps was earning $3 to $5 million per annum from the 10 sponsorship in Beijing. The sponsorships included AT&T, Speedo, Hilton and Visa. Speedo is the company that makes his swimsuits.

Peter Carlisle, Phelps’ agent said he received about 50 sponsor proposals a day after the Olympics in China. He made an estimate of $100 million for the eight gold medals Phelps won in the Olympics with all the sponsorship he is getting.

The managing editor of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon said to Journal that the claim made by the agent were out of context.

It was reported that Tiger Woods make $100 million a year while Phelps may not swim again until the 2012 Olympics.

Other things sponsors look to consider in an athlete is his personality, skill as a spokesman and public behavior.

When he broke the record of Mark Spitz’s of seven gold medals at the Olympics, he made Speedo very happy & proud so that the sponsor gave him a bonus of $1 million. He now holds the record of bagging 8 gold medals at Beijing Olympics.

The amount of money Phelps is going to make as he continues to serve as a spokesman in some events and make TV commercials and other advertisements is just amazing. mark Spitz may have won an impressive seven gold medals back in 1972 but he never made it close to the money from sponsorships Phelps earned.

U.S. swimmer and all-time Olympian Michael Phelps posed with his eight gold medals exclusively for the August 25, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated. The photograph was inspired by fellow Olympic champion Mark Spitz, who showed off seven golds in 1972.

Michael Phelps’ Heart and Lungs:
I’ve heard that his heart pumps twice the normal amount of blood as a normal person, which definitely helps, being an athlete. From swimming since he was little, he’s built up his lung capacity to quite a bit, so that helps a lot also.

Michael Phelps’ Arms:
his wingspan is 6 feet, 7 inches, which is not proportionate to his height of 6 feet, 4 inches. This helps his arms have more power, being able to take longer strokes (the less strokes in however length, the quicker you go).

Michael Phelps’ Legs:
His legs, shorter than the wingspan would suggest, reduce drag. Also, when he was confined to the kick-board, because he broke his wrist, it gave him an opportunity to strengthen his legs.
