Swimmers have always enjoyed the waters, not simply because of its peaceful effect or the stress-free effect to the body, but more so because it lets them enjoy different moves and glides and strokes that people can’t easily enjoy while on land.  There are already several swimming strokes – breaststroke, freestyle, sidestroke, crawl, dog paddle, backstroke, and butterfly swimming strokes – discovered and mastered to boost speed, to mold the entire body, or to enjoy the water, but one thing for sure, these swimming strokes have got all been developed to improve one’s agility and mobility in the water.

The most effective strokes which allows swimmers to experience a whole body workout and at the same time improve swimming speed is the butterfly swimming stroke, but this is also regarded as the most difficult, tiring, and strenuous stroke because of the lower and upper body movements required to perform the stroke.  Although, it looks energy consuming and hard to do, it also looks very beautiful and graceful if done perfectly.

What makes this a difficult but beautiful stroke is because of the combination of the butterfly hands and dolphin kick – synchronous arm and leg movements – if properly and correctly followed, it makes this stroke effective and less energy burning.  Strict observance to the techniques and movements should always be looked at, because of the less breathing time and chance it allows but more straining arm and leg movements.

Butterfly swimming stroke techniques:

The butterfly swimming stroke is done on a prone position – swum on the breast, both of your arms moving together by pulling, pushing, and recovering, both legs synchronically doing a dolphin kick, and the body making a wave-like motion.  If the butterfly swimming stroke is rightly done, the swimmer will be in a smooth and gliding movement, however, it requires much practice, effort, and learning how to master and perfect this stroke.  Even professional and expert swimmers need to exercise the regular breathing method, arm and leg movement, and body flow, to be able to have the feeling of oneness and fluidity in the water.

Unlike the other strokes, which can still be swum even if mistakenly done, the butterfly swimming stroke is a style that doesn’t allow any flaws.  So, to correctly swim this, beginners should practice one movement after another until every move is good, and try synchronizing all movements into one stroke.  It actually is difficult but once done, it would feel great.

The important in doing the butterfly swimming style is to be one with the body, one with the water, and one with the air and you’ll surely speed it out.

The 14-time Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps beat Ryan Lochte again Saturday night, produced world-best times in 2 more events and left the Indianapolis Grand Prix with five gold medals-one for each event he entered.

Pretty good for a guy who has competed twice this season and insists he’s still not 100 %.

“In my eyes, it just feels good to be able to race and race at a good speed,” Michael Phelps said. “After the weekend at Austin, I felt like I didn’t get one thing out of it other than feeling slow and out of shape. Being able to slingshot into this meet just shows how fast things can change.”

Michael Phelps led Ryan Lochte by more than eight-tenths of a second at the midway point, extended the margin to nearly 1 1/2 seconds at the third turn and ended up beating the fatigued Lochte by over two full seconds. Phelps’ time of 1 minute, 56.88 seconds also supplanted Lochte for the No. 1 time in the world this season.

Ryan Lochte finished in 1:59.19, his best time of the year, but lost both of his finals matchups against Phelps in Indy.

“He’s back, there’s no doubt about it,” Lochte said. “I don’t think he’s ever not there, no matter what he says. I feel like he can step up and race any time.”

Phelps proved it this weekend in what may go down as the world’s fastest meet so far this season.

Michael Phelps broke 2 world swimming records at the US Olympic trials in Omaha,NE. A big part of that’s the $550 Speedo LZR Racer “Package Enhancer” Edition that he’s sporting above.

For $550 bucks couldn’t Speedo figure out how to not make the package stand out so bad? It seems like a squirrel is trying to battle his way out of a crown royal bag down there.

The shorts I wear to the pool don’t allow me to fully show off what I am packing. I thinking about buying one of these Speedo LZR’s and just floating on my back the whole time at the community pool.

Back when I personally use to swim in senior high school I’d unwrap my leftover foreskin and breeze through the water just like a porpoise.
